coldclone with MOA

Postby mike1140 » Fri Oct 15, 2010 8:03 am

Last week the motherboard of my PC (5 years old) died. Now I have an HD (XP Home SP3) with some very old programms on it (I need them for maintenance for some clients).

What I tried:
- copy the HD with P2V (Paragon). I got ONLY a *.vmdk. I could mount this disk in a VM and access my data. But I could not start the needed programms (it's clear because the drive is l: and not c: )

- tried to create a VM with this virtual disk -> error message: should use a *.vmk

- created a MOA-coldclone.iso, started the converter -> error message: could not find a operating system

Now I am stuck.
Should I try to build a vmk-File by hand, to get the disk in a VM?

Thanks for help,
Mike

Hi
if paragon already created a vmdk you have the first half done.

You now have to add that vmdk to a new VM and then use converter against the vmx-file to adjust the drivers.
This option in Converter is called "configure machine"
You do not need the coldclone option of Converter that you get with booting MOA - instead you would install Converter on any other Windows machine - can also be installed inside another VM.
